Our mission is to offer innovative programs designed to help children, families, and teachers build healthy and meaningful relationships while providing the highest quality of early childhood education.


Our Values

  • We believe that each child is a unique individual. We are sensitive to a child’s social, emotional, intellectual, and physical needs. We are confident that every child can learn. We encourage not just learning, but also the love of learning.

  • We believe in providing a physical environment that is safe, clean, healthy, and oriented to children. Classroom arrangements will offer challenging play and learning choices at a range of developmental levels. Activity areas will allow children the opportunity to explore, to experience, and most, importantly to succeed.
  • We believe that the strength of any childcare program is the dedication of the teaching staff. We will support our teachers with training, resources, and freedom to create a unique learning experience for children. We will provide many opportunities for teachers to share ideas and grow professionally. Our teachers will create a caring and nurturing atmosphere that fosters each child’s creativity and positive self- image.

Educational Philosophy

Children come to us with the wonder, desire, and will to learn. Our job is to make sure they leave us with their inquisitive natures enhanced and with the discipline and tools to succeed.

Every child needs to be ready to read --- armed with vocabulary, and language-deciphering skills. Every child needs to approach the world with the wonder and knowledge that lead to success in math and science.            

Finally, every child needs the social skills to perform in the school classroom. These needs are the foundation of our educational philosophy:

  • Children are active learners who learn best from activities they plan and carry out themselves. They are little scientists and builders, acrobats and artisans who need active experience with the world of people and things. They need opportunity to set goals, plan, reflect, and take responsibility.
  • Teachers are mentors who provide the environment and experiences from which children learn. They create activities and projects appropriate for each child, ask stimulating questions, provide challenges, and help children find new answers and new opportunities.
  • Developmentally, culturally, and individually appropriate learning environments allow children to discover what the world is like and how it works. Through a variety of learning centers such as music, language/library, dramatic play, science, technology and art/creative expression children make self-directed and guided choices
  • Documentation of learning experiences and regular assessment guide goal setting help create individualized programs that stimulate children to develop to their full potential. At South Wake Preschool & Academy, each child will develop a portfolio of accomplishments.
    • Parents are partners in every aspect of the curriculum, they help to set goals and priorities, plan, evaluate, and sustain learning by providing children with targeted supplemental learning experiences at home.
